Welcome to 7Muses and the LGD! New Orleans is well-known for its diversity of neighborhoods, each with its own distinct culture and flavor, so narrowing it down to one was a daunting proposition! Safety was obviously a primary consideration, followed by proximity to everything that draws visitors to this remarkable city: music, food, history, art, sports, conventions, universities…<\/p>\n

The more we explored the city, the longer our checklist became! Must-haves included easy walkability (5-10 minutes) to the basics:  great coffee shops, bars and restaurants, a scenic park, the iconic St. Charles streetcar \u2026  We also wanted to be within 5-10 minutes driving distance (or a 1-3 mile power walk) of the French Quarter, Central Business District, Superdome, Convention Center and Uptown.<\/p>\n

We ultimately chose the Lower Garden District, and Magazine Street specifically, because it directly connects the French Quarter and beautiful Audubon Park, spanning five miles of amazing shops, restaurants and amenities that coexist among gracious homes in a variety of architectural styles.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

7Muses was redesigned as a home first, which distinguishes it from many of the lodging alternatives in the area. Even though we just completed a thorough restoration to bring everything up to modern standards, it still feels like you are stepping back in time when you walk through the original 1800’s front door under a gas lantern. It’s grandeur and elegance is softened by what a recent guest called “homey-ness, as if it had been lived in consistently for the two centuries since it was built.\u201d<\/p>

The rugs and furnishings are either our own family heirlooms or sourced from antique shops “off the beaten track.” The artwork is all original and mostly local; our goal is to curate a playful mix of formal and informal, giving each room its own distinct personality…. and it is a constantly evolving process!<\/p>

Outdoors, the pool courtyard is unique in its intimacy… a quality that is much more difficult to find in a larger B&B. And while several smaller STR options are available with pools, you can discern the superior quality of our saltwater pool by the darker gunnite and coping details. From the wrought-iron gate to the lush landscaping, the outdoor courtyard area was designed to be an exclusive oasis. \u00a0<\/p>

Meet Your Hosts: Jeff, Anne and Jannie<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Jeff and Anne are both entrepreneurs who love to travel, entertain and just have fun!\u00a0 We can always come up with a reason to celebrate, so it’s no surprise we have always felt drawn to the energy and character of New Orleans.<\/p>

As Southerners, hospitality is in our blood, and we are excited to bring over two decades of real estate, property management and design experience to this new venture.<\/p>

Jeff runs a family business, hosts rare bourbon tastings and curates African safaris; he can direct you to all the most inspired cocktail lounges, legendary dive bars and fishing destinations in the city and beyond.\u00a0<\/p>

In between remodeling houses and gardens, Anne’s latest ambition is obtaining her private pilot\u2019s license; her favorite Nola hobbies are \u201cjust looking\u201d in the Julia Street galleries and trying to recreate dishes from their favorite local restaurants in 7Muses’ gourmet kitchen.<\/p>

As proud members of the notorious Krewe of Tucks, we do love a good parade, but more importantly we love sharing our “insider” perspectives and recommendations on all that Nola has to offer beyond just Mardi Gras and Bourbon Street.<\/p>

But enough about us! The real secret to 7Muses’ success is our Chief Hospitality Officer, Miss Jannie (imagine a combination of your sorority housemother, a stand-up comedian and the Energizer bunny) …<\/p>
